Freedom is a word we hear often, but for women who’ve come through the pain of abuse, it holds a much deeper meaning.
It’s not just about leaving a situation. It’s about learning to live again – to breathe again – to rediscover who you are.
True freedom starts quietly.
It’s in the moment you realise you can make your own choices.
It’s in laughter that doesn’t feel forced, in peace where there used to be fear, and in knowing you are safe, really safe.
Freedom is walking into a room and not shrinking back.
It’s saying ‘no’ without guilt, and ‘yes’ without fear.
It’s trusting your own voice again.
But for those of us who follow Jesus, freedom goes even deeper.
Real, lasting freedom isn’t just physical, it’s spiritual.
When we find freedom in Christ, shame loses its grip.
We no longer live defined by what happened to us, but by who we are in Him.
We are forgiven, redeemed, and restored.
Christ sets us free from the lies that say, ‘you’re not enough’ or ‘you’ll never heal’.
He reminds us that our past doesn’t dictate our future – He does.
Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom – 2 Corinthians 3:17
Freedom in Christ means we don’t have to carry the burden alone anymore.
It means we can rest, knowing we’re deeply loved, fully seen, and completely accepted.
So what does freedom really look like?
It looks like peace.
It feels like joy.
It means hope.
