I’ve always been open about nature being my haven – swimming in rivers, walking through gorges or up mountains is where I feel most at peace and where I can most easily rest in God’s presence. Creation is such a beautiful and intricate thing; it defies the theory that the world is just a ‘happy accident’. When I see my children running freely through God’s creation, the combination of the two most incredibly made things makes me more confident in God as a creator and a God that is good.

Most recently we walked as a family through a valley with a powerful river flowing past us – the walk was simple but involved sections of scrambling and board walk and had little caves to explore along the way. God’s glory was in full display as we stopped mid walk to skim stones, climb on rocks and paddle in the water.

“Fire in His eyes, healing in His veins
Everywhere His glory on display”

For me Phil Wickham’s ‘What an Awesome God’ gets it right again – I see the fire in His eyes every time the sun breaks through the clouds. His veins are the water courses spread out across the earth where I find the most ultimate healing. His creation, His goodness given to us to enjoy, connecting with Him, listening, talking, resting in his presence. When I wobble, I find solace in the power of water reminding me just how small I am, and how it isn’t my job to manage everything on my own. That’s when I turn to God.

2Corinthians 12:9: But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore, I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.
