2 Corinthians 12:9 –
Each time he said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me.

My life as a woman of God has a multitude of facets; I am a mother, a wife, a teacher, a church goer and a friend. Under the hats I wear are the internal parts of me that can combine in a messy way – I am neurodivergent, I have a C-PTSD diagnosis, I have a multitude of learned beliefs, worries and fears and, it has been said, I can be a little childlike at times with the things I enjoy! I don’t believe it is possible to have all these parts come together as a recipe, mixed with positive and negative life experiences, and always create the perfect product day in and day out. Sometimes, despite my best intentions, I get things wrong. Despite trying to focus on my health I still end up depleted, exhausted and with a desire to give up – my thoughts run away with me and my actions aren’t always on point.

Yet, despite this, allow me to share a secret with you – I am still worthy of love, I still hold value to God and my negotiating life messily is perfectly good enough.

As a Christian woman I wholeheartedly believe that talking openly about our weaknesses is a gift to others. Time and again I have witnessed women thanking me for being open about my struggles, my challenges and where I mess up. Vulnerability breeds vulnerability. I struggle with small talk and surface level friendship – to be honest, I struggle with feeling deep human connection generally – and so relationships in my life need vulnerability to grow into something that is sustainable for me through being authentic and meaningful. As I share my life honestly, it allows others to do the same. It also allows me to reflect on my path, my strengths and my weaknesses and where I am holding back from allowing God to work in my life.

I have two scriptures that I feel stand out for this season of my life – be it for the year or just for a few months and these are as follows:

Isaiah 43:2
When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;
And through the rivers, they will not overflow you.
When you walk through the fire, you will not be scorched,
Nor will the flame burn you.

Life has it’s fair share of ups and downs, and lately the downs seem to be taking the upper hand. My head often goes to a place of overwhelm and ‘drowning’. With God I will not drown – whilst I may feel overwhelmed, I will not be overcome.

And the second, and basis for the blog posts I plan on sharing, is:

2 Corinthians 12:9
Each time he said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me.

And so, boast about my weaknesses I will! My prayers often contain the words, “Less of me, God, and more of You” and my weaknesses allow His power to work most fully in my life. My plan is to share my journey of exploring fully how Christ’s power manifests itself in my weaknesses. To explore what weaknesses arise in my walk as a Woman – as a mother, a teacher, a messy-brained, deep-thinking daughter of the Highest King.

Let’s go!

Check back here on Thursday for the first blog in this series.
